Looking to learn more about sexual and relationship violence? The University has several different programs that can increase knowledge about consent, health relationships, sexual harassment, stalking, sexual violence and relationship violence.

Student Workshops

Students will learn about the bystander effect and how to overcome barriers to intervening in situations that might be dangerous, risky or unsafe to another person. Presented by the Barnes Center at The Arch Peer Educators

Duration: 60 min

Availability: Available as part of the Wellness Leadership Institute

Students will have in-depth conversations about sexual violence and learn about cultural norms that promote and allow sexual violence to be acceptable in our society. Then, utilizing the prosocial bystander skills learned from the 101 workshop, will talk about how students can prevent sexual violence on a daily basis using prosocial bystander intervention

Availability: Available as part of the Wellness Leadership Institute, only to individuals that have completed Bystander 101

Students will discuss different types of relationships, learn how to acknowledge others’ boundaries including their own, recognize healthy boundaries and characteristics of healthy relationships and feel empowered to practice more effective communication. Presented by the Barnes Center at The Arch Peer Educators.

This workshop is based on a new paradigm of sexuality, “pizza.” The discussion focuses on how to openly communicate about sex and sexuality, which in turn leads to healthy encounters, based on consent. Presented by the Barnes Center at The Arch Peer Educators.

Students will learn about ideas, attitudes and beliefs in our culture that normalize sexual and relationship violence. After participating you will be able to recognize these messages and think critically or intervene as a prosocial bystander to help create a healthier and safer culture. Facilitated by the peer educators.

Primarily focused on student education, this class provides background on Title IX and the University policy and federal and state laws surrounding preventing sexual and relationship violence, support resources available to campus community members and reporting options. Topics include: SU Policy and Law / Title IX, Affirmative Consent, Understanding resources: confidential vs private, Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, Amnesty Policy, Resolution process options. Workshop hosted by Equal Opportunity, Inclusion, and Resolution Services

Staff and Faculty Workshops 

What steps should staff and faculty take if they receive a report of sexual misconduct? This class provides specific steps that faculty and staff must take to ensure student support and to satisfy University reporting requirements.
Duration: 30 min or 60 min

Availability: by request

An introduction to the University’s policies surrounding harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct. Topics include cultivating a culture of respect, understanding and preventing discrimination and sexual harassment, Title IX and being a “responsible employee” and campus access and workplace accommodations.
